Mayan calendars
Mayan calendars are a lot different from what we think of when we hear calendars. They’re circular rather than square and they use symbols rather than numbers and dates like we do. There are a lot of different interpretations of Mayan calendars. It’s hard to figure out what interpretation is the most accurate seeing as how there aren’t many Mayans left today. We’re all speculating on something that’s completely foreign to use due to our ethnocentric mindset. As a result, what we think might be a doomsday scenario could be nothing more than an unfinished calendar. We don’t know exactly what mysteries Mayan calendars hold. We can look at them over and over to see what we can derive from them next, but in the end, our conclusions may or may not be correct. What we should do is wait for things to happen and double check them against Mayan calendars.
The main thing about Mayan calendars is that they have an end date. People think that this date is going to lead to the end of the world. This is most likely not the case. Our biggest mistake in this interpretation is to try to look at Mayan calendars from the prospective of our calendars. The two systems are most certainly not the same, so you can’t look at them the same way. We need to figure out the system that’s present on Mayan calendars and go from there. Until then, our interpretations are speculation and nothing more. Proof needs to come out before we can make a final determination. |
